I finally turned 18 on Monday, and my mother and grandmother lovingly schemed behind my back to get me tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Keller Auditorium! It wasn't showing for some reason on my actual birthday, so we went last night instead, and I had an amazing time!
It was the second time I'd seen it on stage,
I saw it about 10 or 11 years ago, also at the Keller,
when I believe that Mr. Richard Todd Adams, our enchanting Phantom last night, took on the role of Raoul le Vicomte de Chagny.
Our Christine Daae, Trista Moldovan, was also amazing. She was no Sarah Brightman, of course, but she was by far a better Christine than Emmy Rossum in the 2004 movie.
Oh, and Greg Mills, our Raoul last night, was incredible. The reviews made him out to be a little wet and foppish, but doesn't Raoul usually come off that way? But I didn't see it, I saw a man in love with a woman in trouble, struggling to save her. I know that sounds kind of wet and cheesy, but I'm an actor and a hopeless romantic, what can you expect?
Anyway, I just wanted to share with you all that I had an absolutely amazing time! Front row seats aren't always desirable, but last night I could see every face and detail perfectly, and feel the warmth of the pyrotechnics. Oh, and close enough that during the final bows, the Marksman/Auctioneer caught me drying my eyes with a tissue and laughed. Sean MacLaughlin, I believe his name was. Talented guy;I looked up his resume when I got home.
So, in short, I had a brilliant time, loved every minute, my only regret is that I don't have the money for another ticket before they continue their tour across the US!
Nice hometown, BTW; I live in Hillsboro!

I lived here for a long time when I was little, then I moved a few cities away for about six years. It's good to be back!

Small world, I was born there, moved real far away and now we're back in the area and have been for almost three years now.
